9/9/2026 Southeast, Michigan Fishing Report

 

Southeast Lower Peninsula

Lower Saginaw Bay: Fishing was slow with very anglers seen. There was reports of walleye caught on the east side of Spoils Island in 10 feet of water using crawlers.


Lake Erie: Yellow perch began schooling east of Stony Point. Some anglers caught fair numbers in approximately 18 feet of water before moving into deeper water. Perch rigs dressed with feathers and beads tipped with minnows were effective, with red producing the best results. Emerald shiners were in short supply, though other minnow species proved effective. Catches consisted of many small yellow perch, though larger fish did appear in the area. Walleye moved back across the state line into deeper waters on the Ohio side.

Lower Saginaw Bay: Boat anglers caught a few 9 to 11-inch yellow perch at sailboat buoys B and F, along with numerous 5 to 7-inch fish. Some boat anglers kept approximately 15 to 20 yellow perch per boat.

Eastern Saginaw Bay: Fishing was very slow across all access points over the past week. Water temperatures remained warm, with surface temperatures reported in the mid-70s. Anglers caught a few walleye near the Spark Plug midweek while trolling nightcrawler harnesses. Action remained slow overall, with cooler temperatures expected to improve fishing conditions.
