8/19/2026 Southeast, Michigan Fishing Report

 


Southeast Lower Peninsula

Lake Erie: Yellow perch fishing remained slow throughout the area. Many small yellow perch were caught and released. No specific location outperformed another. Walleye were found in deeper water with slow action reported. Anglers targeting perch found a few opportunities near the mouth of the River Raisin.

  • If you're planning on fishing out of Sterling State Park or the Brest Bay area you can pick up tackle from the nice people at Jeff's Bait & Tackle

  • If you're planning on fishing any of the canals near Lake Erie Metro Park or Point Mouillee State Game Area you can get all of your bait & tackle needs met at  Bottom Line Bait & Tackle.

Eastern Saginaw Bay: Walleye continued to be caught, though limits were scarce. Boats averaged 5 to 6 fish, with some doing better. Productive locations included Callahan Reef in 14 feet of water, as well as further out in the vicinity of the Spark Plug and Buoys #1 and #2 in the shipping channel, where anglers did best trolling nightcrawler harnesses.

Ingham County: Anglers reported success targeting smallmouth bass in the Grand River.
